Matthew McConaughey is telling fans to ‘wear a damn mask’ in the new video

The actor told fans that he realized that the country is going through “some growing pain”, but that “growing pain is a good thing, because how the hell are we going to grow up?”

Then he said, “I think we have to look each other in the eye … we look each other in the eye, we have to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, ‘How can I be better?’ How can I expect more from myself and others? How can I be more responsible? How can I have more compassion? How can I have more courage? How can I be more honest? How can I be sure I’m wearing a damn mask?

“So we get to the birthday next year and the birthday after that. And we start partying again. Looking around and thinking, ‘Oh yeah, we always have work to do.’ We never get there, but we have improved. “It’s our chance. It’s our chance. It’s up to me. It’s up to you,” he said.

“It’s game time. Ding, ding. We’re in the ring, America. Let’s stop that and clean it up.”

This isn’t the first time McConaughey has been open with fans when it comes to slowing the spread of the coronavirus. He talked in May CNN’s Brianna Keilar about the need for fans to take all possible precautions.

“Science is currently behind us,” he said. “The mask means leaving science. It’s about protecting people on the front line. Don’t let what happened in New York happen where there are two patients for each bed. We have to buy time, and the mask is a very good tool for that . “
