Evo Morales affirms that leaving the OAS is an act of dignity

LA PAZ, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Former Bolivian President Evo Morales confirmed today on his Twitter account that leaving the Organization of American States (OAS) is a “dignified act” as Venezuela and Nicaragua did.

“OAS, manipulated by coup plotter @Almagro_OEA2015 used to threaten expulsion to question the intervention of the USA. It was frightening to be expelled from the OAS. But now, leaving this influential body, as Venezuela and Nicaragua do, is an act of dignity” , wrote the leader of the Movement for Socialism.

Morales on Sunday called for the multinational country to withdraw from the Organization of American States in response to the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas by the United States.

He considered it at the time that this would be an endorsement of our “anti-imperialist stance”.

In another tweet, Bolivia’s first indigenous ex-president said Washington practices double standards because it talks about democracy and freedom “but does not respect democratic states that liberated themselves from empire and submit to it.”

The day before, he denounced the United States’ attempts to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, adding that they prevented him from talking about democracy and excluded Caracas from the continental meeting.

Former United States Secretary of Defense Mark Esper admits in his book “The Sacred Oath” that he suggested to Juan Guaido “to assassinate his brother, Nicolas Maduro.” With what morals can the United States talk about respecting democracy to exclude the people of Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas?

Time and time again, the Bolivian social leader has referred to the issue after US Under Secretary of State Brian Nichols confirmed that the United States would exclude Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the regional forum.

Morales insisted that the sin of these three nations was to free themselves from the interference of the North American empire and to defend their sovereignty.

He also warned last week that “the Summit of the Americas is on the verge of failure, not because of the lack of will for dialogue on the part of the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean, but because of the arrogance of the United States and its contempt for our peoples.”
