AMD’s Lisa Su was the highest paid CEO in the S&P 500 last year

She is the first woman to come out on top annual review, compiled Associated Press and Equilar Fee Analysis Executive Company, since it began in 2011
Su earned a total of $ 58.5 million in 2019 – nearly $ 13 million more than the next highest paid CEO, Discovery Inc (DISCB) David Zaslav, who earned $ 45.8 million. The study, released last week, examined the compensation for the company’s executive directorates S&P 500 (SPX) companies that have been at least two years since the end of 2019.
Because the study considered a compensation package for 2019, the results do not reflect the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which led many executives to give up some or all of the fees.

Suva’s compensation has increased significantly from a year earlier – it earned $ 13.4 million in 2018 – thanks in large part to a one-time performance-based share allocation. In 2019, she earned $ 1 million in base salary and a $ 1.2 million performance-based bonus.

After taking the helm of AMD in 2014, Su took over the company on the brink of financial ruin and turned him into a top performer in the S&P 500 and a striking competitor to Intel. The semiconductor company is now creating technology to power cloud computers and play games.

During 2019 alone, AMD shares rose 156%.

The brave bets helped turn the company around. Its success is a “one-generation thing,” said Hans Mosesmann CEO Rosenblatt Securities in interview late last year.
Su is one of the few women of the leading large technology companies and is one of the 20 women who made the Equilar list on which there were 329 executives. Also included in these 20 are Lockheed Martin’s (LMT) Marillyn Hewson, General Motors’ (GM) Mary Barra and ex IBM (IBM) CEO Ginni Rometty, who resigned in April.

The study found that the average compensation for female executives was $ 13.9 million compared to $ 12.3 million for male executives, although there were far fewer women than men on the list.

More broadly, the study found that the average remuneration for all executives surveyed reached $ 12.3 million, an increase of 4.1% over 2018, although the growth rate was slower than in the previous two years.
