With the Valorant World Championship in full swing, developer Riot Games is already planning for the future of the esports discipline. A new system has been announced for 2023.
“The Valorant community’s passion has inspired us to dream big and continue to develop the Valorant Champions Tour,” Whalen Rozelle, Riot Games Director of Electronic Operations, said in a statement on Wednesday. These developments mainly affect the bowler’s international league system. Accordingly, Valorant’s competitive summit is divided into only three regions – America, Europe and Africa as well as Asia with Australia and Oceania.
The new system is also based on offline tournaments: in the future, tournaments will be held on site in Berlin, Los Angeles in the United States, and Seoul in South Korea.
The next VCT year has also been modified so that teams can find their way to the new locations. After a three-week Invitational Tournament at the start of the year in Brazil, the premiere of new international tournaments will follow at the end of March. After only one season – two a year planned in the future – the Masters and Champions will follow.
