The Royal Mail is looking for temporary workers in the Northwest as it prepares for Christmas.

The holidays are Royal Mail’s busiest time of year – and despite the pandemic, this year is set to be no different.

That’s why the company employs thousands of temporary employees to ensure packages and messages get exactly where they need to be.

Mail sorter is hired at locations throughout the region, while mail handler jobs are also located in the Regional Center in Warrington.

These are the jobs you can apply for in the Northwest this winter.

Christmas Casual – Mail Sorter

Mail is needed to be sorted on many hubs across the northwest.

The job involves unloading mail and parcels from trucks, moving them around the warehouse and sorting them until they reach their destination safely.

According to the job application, Royal Mail searches for people who:

  • Enjoy working within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and focused on details
  • Flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks while on shift
  • Capable of propelling trolleys (up to 250 kg) and lifting and transporting mail bags of up to 11 kg
  • It can stand for long periods of time

No previous experience is required for this role.

Hourly wages range from £ 8.72 to £ 12.30 per hour.

Upon applying, you will be able to specify your preferred transformation styles. In most centers there will be early and late shifts, nights and weekends.

Royal Mail is also recruiting mail processors at its northwest hub in Warrington.

The job descriptions say: “If you are 18 or over, and you are accurate, reliable and have a flexible approach, then you are the type of person we are looking for.”

Royal Mail is looking for employees for the holiday season

The job involves unloading wheeled containers from incoming vehicles, transporting them to the correct dispatch lane and then loading them onto the outbound transport.

It involves a great deal of walking every day – the equivalent of about five miles or more.

The role may also require you to assist with parcel handling and mail sorting.

Pay ranges from £ 9.60 to £ 12.30 per hour, and styles of shifts include delay, nights, and weekends.
