Navigating COVID-19 Across Internal Health – Trail Daily Times

Interior Health is reminding anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 that they have support in place.

At Trail, the test is done at Kiro Health Center. Call 250.304.5210 for information.

Or, people who live in the Interior Health area also have the option to book a test online or by calling 1.877.740.7747.

The test is available to anyone with symptoms of COVID-19.

If you are not sure about your symptoms, you can take a COVID-19 assessment online or call 811 to speak to HealthLinkBC for health information or advice.

Receiving COVID-19 Test results

Anyone who test positive for COVID-19 by Public Health will be contacted directly over the phone. If you receive a positive test result via text message, you will be contacted by Public Health and the Health Authority will ask you to wait for this call.

Anyone who has difficulty breathing, or has severe symptoms, should call 911 or go to the emergency department.

Self-isolation With COVID-19

After testing positive for COVID-19, public health will support you to stay home and isolate for at least ten days after symptoms appear. Most people can manage their symptoms at home while a family doctor, local urgent primary care center, or outpatient clinic can support mild to moderate cold or flu-like symptoms.

If you are self-isolating because of your COVID-19 infection, then you must take measures to stay isolated from others in your family.

If this is not possible and you remain in close contact with others in your family, they should isolate with you.

While waiting for your COVID-19 test results, you must self-isolate and if you test negative for COVID-19 despite COVID-19-like symptoms, you still have to stay home to recover.

When will you get a COVID-19 test

The test is available for people with cold or flu symptoms or symptoms of COVID-19, including: fever. cough; Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. Loss of sense of taste or smell; Body pain (muscle and joint pain); Diarrhea; Headache; Other milder symptoms may include: runny nose, fatigue, sore throat, vomiting, and red eyes.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Residents in all communities are required to remain vigilant in following COVID-19 precautions:

• Keep your home bubbles and avoid social gatherings.

• Stay home when you are sick and get tested if you have any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

• Practice physical distancing.

• Wear a mask in indoor public places.

Wash your hands often.

Avoid unnecessary travel.
