California-based film and TV productions will soon be able to return to work
A new guideline from California’s Department of Public Health says television, film and music production in the state can resume on June 12, “subject to approval by county public health officials within the jurisdiction of operations.”
The long-awaited green light on Friday appeared in an update that also offered updated guidelines for schools, day camps and professional sports.
“To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, production, castings, crew and other industry workers should adhere to safety protocols agreed by the work and administration, which can be improved by county public health officers,” read the instructions from States. “Staff and management of the headquarters should adhere to the Office of Workspace guidelines issued by the California Secretary of Public Health and the California Department of Industrial Relations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.”
CNN joined SAG-AFTRA, a union representing about 160,000 actors and performers, for comment.
Measures relied heavily on extensive testing, temperature checks, cleaning measures, and physical distancing when possible.
