British Home Secretary submits her resignation to Liz Truss | Europe | Dr..

British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has left Prime Minister Liz Truss’ government, which is facing a serious crisis of confidence, local media reported on Wednesday (19/10/2022).

The official claimed, as a reason for her resignation, that she used her personal email account to send an official document to a colleague, which she described as a “mistake” and a “technical breach” for which she accepted her “responsibility”.

In his resignation letter, Braverman also said he was “deeply concerned” about the government’s policies. “Pretending we haven’t made mistakes, acting like no one can see we’ve made mistakes, and hoping things will magically go, is not serious policy,” he wrote.

Braverman, seen as a hardline wing of the ruling Conservative Party, has held the portfolio for only 43 days, and her exit from Truss’ executive branch is deepening a government crisis that began last month with the announcement of a disastrous economic package.

The prime minister faced widespread criticism for not resigning after her finance minister, Kwasi Kwarting, was forced to take the blame for a budget proposal that caused economic tsunami in the country.

Former Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps was appointed hours later as Braverman’s replacement.
