The General Lee ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ museum is not moving, the museum says

That seems to be the way the Illinois Automobile Museum looks the emperor became famous according to the popular TV series “Dukes of Hazzard”.

The car used during the first season of the CBS series, which lasted from 1979 to 1985, is currently housed in the Volo Car Museum in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

The 1969 Dodge Charger known as “General Lee” carries the Confederate flag. All things related to that heritage and historical period are checked to see how the nation deals with racial relations.

Brian Grams, director of the museum, he told the Northwest Herald the discussion will not result in the car being removed from the screen.

“We feel that the car is a part of history and that people love it,” he said. “We have people of all races and nationalities who remember the TV show and don’t insult them at all. It’s part of history and it’s in a museum.”

While it was a call for the removal of monuments and other symbols of the Confederation, he said his museum had not received any complaints regarding the car they had owned since 2005.

“A few people left us on screen with positive comments,” Grams said. “Praise for leaving it there and not having a reaction to the knee to remove it like there’s a lot of room.”
