Seven cases of coronavirus are linked to the Scottish Police Training College

Dr Lorna Watson, Consultant Public Health Medicine at NHS Fife said: “We appreciate the concern of students and staff attending Police College of Scotland in Tollialan, however, there is no indication of further COVID-19 transmission at the facility and we believe the risk of contracting the Coronavirus Still low.

“As part of the testing and protection program, we have systems in place to quickly identify close contacts of positive cases to reduce the chance of further spread of the virus. This is a tried and tested method for breaking the chains of transmission of infectious viruses such as COVID-19.

“It is vitally important for anyone to experience the well-established symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature; a new and persistent cough or loss or change in your sense of smell or taste, the test is arranged using the UK Government Citizens Portal or by calling 0800 028 2816.

Assistant Chief Constable Alan Spears added: “The Police of Scotland follow the directives of the Scottish government and the NHS and where cases of Coronavirus are identified, we work with the local health board and follow testing and protection procedures.

“We have robust measures in place to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus. The cases are related to our driving training facility and there is no evidence of transmission within the wider college.”

A local online support center has been set up to provide information on COVID-19 testing and epidemic updates.
