Real Sociedad will face Eibar at the Anoita this afternoon in the Basque match.
Real Madrid can top the La Liga with a win given Atletico Madrid’s loss in the Madrid derby last night, while Eibar can jump from 13th to seventh.
La Real entered the match emotionally and physically draining after the massive Europa League clash with Napoli in Italy last Thursday. The Basque Country qualified for the 32nd round of the competition in a late dramatic style.
Eibar, by contrast, has not played since Monday. It would be challenging for Real to really push for victory. They have drawn their last two league matches against Alaves and Villarreal.
Hosts welcome David Silva’s return to the tour’s lineup, with their playmaker returning to the bench after a period of his absence. Mikel Uyarzabal has not yet recovered from his injury.
In the event Silva enters, he will celebrate his return to first-team activity by playing against his former club. Silva spent 2004/05 on loan at Eibar while working in Valencia.
