Miami (CBS Miami) – Time is running out if you plan to vote in the upcoming November elections and haven’t registered to do so.

Monday, October 5 is the last day to register to vote.

To register to vote, you must:

• Be a US citizen
• Be a resident of Florida
• Be at least 18 years old
• Not to be judged mentally incapable of voting in Florida or any other state without restoring the right to vote
• Never be convicted of a felony without restoring your voting rights.

The easiest way to register to vote is to do so online at Register to vote Florida.gov.

If you decide to vote by mail this year, you must be a registered elector and must request a poll from the Superintendent of Elections in your county. Immediate family members or guardians can request the poll for someone else. The signature of the voter is required and must match the signature on the file.

The election supervisor in your county should receive the ballots by mail by 7 PM on election day.

Ballot papers can be returned by post by mail, delivered at any early polling site during business hours via a safe deposit box, or delivered to the election supervisor’s office in your county.

Broward County Supervisor at the Election Office said that between Friday and Monday, the number of people registered to vote rose from 1,200 to 7,300.

“The last big increase was in 2008,” said Mary Hall, deputy superintendent of elections for Broward. “People drop their ballots by mail and register so they don’t get into trouble on Election Day.”

Early in-person voting begins 15 days before Election Day although the number of days and locations varies by county.

Miami County – Daddy: Early voting starts Monday October 19 – Sunday November 1st. There are 33 locations that will be open from 7am to 7pm. All early voting sites will also have official ballot boxes for anyone who wishes to have their ballot papers dropped by mail rather than mailed. Tuesday 3 November – Election Day

If you vote in person on election day, you will need a signed ID. If you do not have an ID, you will be able to vote on a provisional ballot. Your ballot will be counted if the signature on the ballot matches the signature on your voter registration record.
