This season’s version of the Classic Champions League is being held on Tuesday, starting with the top 10 match between Duke No. 6 and Michigan State No. 8 at Cameron’s Indoor Stadium, Blue Devils Stadium. Both teams did not lose the match, as Duke won once and Michigan State twice, and both enter the evening hoping to score a distinct victory at the start of the season.
For Tom Izzo’s Spartans, there’s a lot at stake. The Hall of Famer is only 2-12 in his coaching career against fellow Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski, and so Tuesday night there’s some bragging rights and pride at stake as well.

Storylines
duke: Duke won double records over Cobain State to open his season in Hohme style. This was to be expected. The big test comes on Tuesday against Sparti. Coach K is replacing nearly all of his starting line-up from last season’s 25-win team, including second-round players Terry Jones and Vernon Carey Jr. The Blue Devils have little experience in the Sentinel and station, but they have a lot of talent to compete with them led by a pair of freshmen Jeremy Roach and Galen Johnson.
Michigan StateA: You don’t replace gears like Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman, but Tom Iso & Co. have the goods to try. The addition of the Marketplace transition helps Joy Houser achieve this, as does the comeback experience of Rocket Watts, Joshua Langford, and Aaron Henry. Not the same star power as last year but good enough with size, experience, and talent to be one of the top ten. This team definitely has an edge in the college experience on Duke.

Perhaps Duke has more talent in the NBA, and Duke may have the notable upper hand as he has the advantage of playing at home. But Michigan state has more experience, more proven producers and a Hall of Fame coach to fight else Coach Hall of Fame. It must be close, but I like Izzo in an underdog here.
