The decision was made on the additional costs in the George Floyd case

One official said the state’s attorney, Keith Ellison, would make significant announcements for the case early in the afternoon. Officials would not reveal what the decision was.

Three now-former officers can be seen in a video on Floyd during his May 25 murder. Derek Chauvin, who pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, is charged with third-degree murder and second-degree murder. .

Former officers Thomas Lane and J.A. Keung, who helped restrain Floyd, and a fourth former officer, Tou Thao, who stood close to the others, have not yet been charged.

Two of Floyd’s autopsies determined he died by murder. The Minneapolis police chief fired the officers and said they were “accomplices” in Floyd’s death, and Floyd’s family and protesters called for all police officers to be arrested and convicted of murder.

Benjamin Crump, a lawyer for the Floyd family, told CNN on Wednesday that he was confident other officials would be indicted before a public monument in Minneapolis on Thursday.

“I am confident that these officers will be indicted before the people of Minneapolis say their last goodbye to George Floyd, let him rest in peace,” he said.
