Halle Berry is no longer thinking about a transgender role in the upcoming film
“I am grateful for the guidance and critical discussion over the last few days and I will continue to listen, educate and learn from this mistake.”
Berry said she vowed “to be an ally” and would use her “voice to promote better representation on screen, in front of and behind the camera.”
In response to the star’s statement, many thanked her for the hearing.
LGBTQ’s advocacy group GLAAD said they were glad Berry listened to the concerns expressed after discussing the role and “learning from them.”
Following Berry’s announcement Monday, the bill wrote, “We hope #DisclosureNetflix is one of many educational tools you and others can rely on to inspire and strengthen the alliance.”
