Takeaway has been fined £ 1,000 for providing food to a customer four minutes after the COVID-19 curfew.
Bim’s Burger in Ilford, East London, was awarded the fine after A. Covid-19 A law enforcement team saw a customer standing inside waiting for his takeaway meal on Thursday.
Redbridge Police said they looked at his receipt and said it was presented at “10 pm at the point.”
However, they said that the staff did not serve him his food “until 10.04 pm,” so a fine was issued because the curfew starts at 10 pm, starting on September 24.
The Bim’s owners said their employees had “unwittingly violated” the curfew and began processing it before 10 pm.
“Our staff had the impression that if an application was submitted by 10 pm, it could still be submitted,” they said in a statement.
The food took less than four minutes to arrive and left at 10.04 pm.
“Then our employees were shocked to learn that they had violated the new laws within four minutes.
“The new rules regarding COVID-19 are getting thick and fast and sometimes it’s not clear exactly how they should be interpreted.”
They added that the mistake was “made in good faith” as they said asking the client to leave would have been an insult.

But they said they would not file a complaint with the police and “it is clear that in the future they will be more interested in adhering to the law.”
Redbridge, where Ilford is located, has the highest infection rate of all 28 London boroughs.
The latest public health figures in England found it had an average of 59 cases per 100,000 people, while the second worst was Barking and Dagenham at 53.5 cases per 100,000 people.
Ready pizza was among the establishments fined by the COVID-19 enforcement team in Ilford
Two other Ilford companies were fined £ 1,000 on Thursday and one on Friday while the enforcement team was patrolling the area.
On Thursday, Fireaway Pizza was fined after police found two customers not wearing masks and waiting in the building at 10.20 p.m., after just placing an order.
Redbridge Police said Spice in Ilford High Street was also fined for “subsequent violations.”
On Friday, Eyva Turkish Grill and Meze Bar were fined for serving food at 10.45pm.
