Prince Harry says institutional racism is ‘endemic’ in society
Speaking of his mother, Harry said, “She never went the easy way, neither the popular one nor the comfortable one, but advocated for something and advocated for people who needed it.”
He added: “Currently, we are seeing situations in the world where there is division, isolation and anger. How pain and trauma come to the surface.”
The prince said he and his wife Meghan agreed that their generation and she before them had not done enough to “correct the injustices of the past”.
“I’m sorry too. I’m sorry we didn’t get the world in the place you deserve to be,” he added.
“Institutional racism has no place in our societies, but it is still endemic. We must acknowledge the unconscious guilt without guilt in order to create a better world for all of you,” he said, adding that he was committed to participating in the solution.
