Logitech’s new MX Anywhere 3 mouse has buttons to control Zoom calls

As far as design goes, MX Anywhere 3 is roughly the same size as Anywhere 2s but has new silicone side handles and a slightly higher protrusion on the back which helps it fit in the palm of your hand more easily. As someone who used to use a bigger mouse like MX Master 2s, Anywhere 3 felt small at first. However, it didn’t take my hands long to adjust and take advantage of those side buttons – not only during video chats, but also during side scrolling. You can side scrolling with the mouse by pressing one of the side buttons and moving the MagSpeed wheel at the same time. It’s less complicated than it sounds, and I actually prefer it over the side wheel that graces the MX Master 2s and its successor.

The new MagSpeed metal wheel on this mouse is essentially a smaller version of the one on the MX Master 3. It brings electromagnetic scrolling to Anywhere 3, which is more accurate and faster than the previous scrolling mechanism in Anywhere 2s. The new mouse also has 4000 dpi Darkfield technology that helps it track any material, even glass, and the wheel features a middle click function that you can customize in Logitech options.

You can also customize Logitech’s scrolling strength, which will increase or decrease the number of lines you feel while scrolling in ratchet mode. By default, the top button toggles between swipe and ratchet mode, but as with most buttons on MX devices, you can change the action assigned to this button in the options.

All of these features allow you to customize the way Anywhere 3 feels while using it, which is a good thing on the mouse you’re supposed to be using, well, Anywhere. In the few days I spent with Anywhere 3, I used it on my desk as well as on my couch, on my kitchen countertops and for a while on a glass side table in my living room and it worked well in all of those environments. I also haven’t had it once since I pulled it out of the box thanks to the mouse’s 70-day battery life. It charges via USB-C as well, which is a solid feature for those of us who are tired of seeing old microUSB ports on new devices.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 comes in an international version, compatible with most operating systems including Chrome OS and Linux, and an optimized version for macOS. The former works via bluetooth or with an embedded USB embedded receiver, while the latter works with bluetooth only. Both cost $ 79 and are available for pre-order today Logitech site.
