Internet and Websites : Kansas City Internet Startup neighbortree.com Receives Venture Capital Funding 30 Days after Website Launch
|
| on 2010/9/1 8:00:00 (158 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency) --- Free neighborhood social network, neighbortree.com, announced today that the company has received startup funding from a regional angel investment firm. Neighbortree.com provides free neighborhood websites to any type of residential community. Commenting on the announcement, neighbortree.com states: “In this economy, and at our early stage, a $120,000 transaction is significant. This startup funding will hopefully put us on a broader range of VC radars.”
Neighbortree.com, a self-descried LILO startup (a little in, a lot out), was encouraged by the investor validation and speed of achieving this milestone: “Our management team has a diverse background including venture capital, software development and international business experience. We love Kansas City’s low cost of living and large pool of highly skilled software developers. We were a little concerned about the local appetite for funding a bootstrapped LILO startup like neighbortree.com. The old school way of investing in startups was to have the entrepreneurs spend all of their time developing a business plan and then getting a paper plan funded – where VC funding was the end game. In our view, this model is already obsolete in major tech communities. These days, Internet entrepreneurs bootstrap a prototype application, prove the concept via user acquisition and revenue generation, then take a tangible company to early stage investors. We took our new company to a single angel investment group and were funded almost immediately. This not only validates our business model and puts us on the map, it also shows that Kansas City venture capital investors are as nimble and savvy as their East and West Coast peers. Our original goal was to fund our growth organically, but our business is growing much faster than we anticipated, so we will likely need additional venture capital investment down the road. Another one of our goals is to create high paying jobs here in Kansas City and it’s reassuring to know that we may be able to achieve our future funding needs here as well.”

Internet and Websites : Local Cake Decorating Classes Directory Launches Online
|
| on 2010/8/31 9:00:00 (134 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency) --- This new local cake decorating classes website directory--the only one of its kind in the United States--connects cake decorating students with class teachers in their local area.
The website is run by husband and wife team, Derek and Lindsay Pollard, who saw the growing demand for cake decorating classes, but also spotted the difficulty that potential students have in finding classes when they search for them on the Internet. Every day, hundreds of cake decorating enthusiasts search the Internet, but struggle to find relevant results. They then post questions on forums and Q&A sites, usually concluding that there are no classes available locally to them. To solve this problem, Derek and Lindsay designed and developed a directory that is highly optimized for visitor usability and attracting search engine traffic.

|
| on 2010/8/26 6:00:00 (139 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency) --- Jets and Giants fans are sick of parking on game days. New Meadowlands Stadium, which has 20,000+ parking spaces at its premises, has only made them available to season ticket holders. Non-season ticket holders are usually left fighting to secure a parking pass from either a friend with season tickets or through secondary ticket marketplaces, like StubHub. Parking passes are never readily available and when they are, prices can sometimes exceed the cost of the ticket. So they’re off to see the Whiz. Parkwhiz.com, that is.
ParkWhiz.com is a website that allows fans to reserve a GUARANTEED pre-paid parking space near the New Meadowlands Stadium. ParkWhiz works with verified parking operators and businesses surrounding the stadium to list their parking on the website. Once listed, fans can go to parkwhiz.com to reserve and print off their parking pass from the comfort of their home. If they are already en route to the stadium, fans can visit parkwhiz.com on their favorite Android or iPhone device to make an e-reservation. Currently, ParkWhiz offers reserved parking options at Redd's Restaurant and the Hampton Inn, located just a few blocks away from the Meadowlands Stadium. A ParkWhiz reservation at Redd’s entitles the customer to a guaranteed parking spot, complimentary shuttle service to and from the stadium's East gate entrance, as well as an enticing offer that encourages patrons to step inside the restaurant.

Internet and Websites : Egos and Money at Stake as Writers Compete for Patrons Online
|
| on 2010/8/25 10:00:00 (124 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency) --- What does a starving writer have to do these days to make money and attract readers in a dwindling market of mainstream publishers and booksellers? One website, PatronQuo.com, has recently launched with the idea to go back to basics, to help aspiring authors earn financial support the old-fashioned way - by finding patrons.
This being the Internet, it's an old idea with a newfangled Darwinian twist. Fiction writers of all genres are invited to submit their tales in the hopes of getting readers, accolades, and perhaps money. Though it's free to submit, the price some participants pay may come in the form of crushed egos, as each submitted tale is randomly assigned for literary death matches with all other tales on the website.
