Self-Improvement & Psychology : Android Performance and Benchmark Tool-Set Released
on 2010/8/27 6:00:00 (201 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Actual systems performance consists of an application driven workload, the speed and availability of the accessed OS components, as well as the speed and availability of the involved hardware resources. Every OS is basically an abstraction provider, a reactive entity whose performance depends on the pattern of the application load imposed to it. More specifically, OS performance depends on both, the capabilities of the hardware interface that is being abstracted, and the way the OS abstractions are utilized by an application. In reality, not every application is using the same OS abstractions, as each application has its own access (code) path through the OS. It is a fact that prior to releasing new systems into production, virtually no company truly stress-tests (benchmarks) the product from a HW AND an OS perspective.

Such a health-check would insure that new systems that are being deployed into production are operating correctly, and are performing as anticipated. Further, such a stress-test (benchmark) insures that any operating system or hardware related issues are being addressed prior to releasing the new systems.

on 2010/8/12 18:00:00 (242 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Author and relationship expert Yolanda Yanni Brown believes real love begins by looking in the mirror. She talks about the importance of personal growth and strength as the key to loving relationships in her debut book “Making Love Better Begins Within” (220 Publishing). In it, Brown uses her sharp wit and brutal honesty, revealing missteps she has made in relationships and how she rebounded from them, to create a thoughtful guide for singles and couples about how to break the cycle of unhealthy relationships.

“I thought about the countless stories I've shared about love life's experiences and how women opened up after hearing them,” Brown says. “It was then that I knew that we all have a story. I'm hoping that my story can make a difference to help other women heal and share their stories so that we can make love better.”

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Are You a Skeptic or Believer? Queendom.com Reveals Results of Their Paranormal Beliefs Study
on 2010/8/3 6:30:00 (123 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Queendom.com, one of the web’s foremost source of personality assessments, knocked on wood, threw salt over their shoulder, and stepped into the world of the paranormal. After releasing their Paranormal Beliefs test and collecting data from over 20,000 people from all walks of life, they uncovered gender, age, ethnic and other differences in views of the supernatural.

Belief in the supernatural is as ancient it comes. And while we’ve been able to prove that lightning and thunder are not bowling angels, and that spinning three times in front of the mirror while saying a dead person’s name will cause only dizziness, at most, there are some beliefs that hold solid. Science can boldly refute some theories, but paranormal researchers have their own fancy doodads now, like thermal imaging cameras, EMFs, and motion detectors. We’ve moved beyond parlor tricks, conspiracy theories, and taking pictures of muddy footprints of big feet.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Whatever
on 2010/7/15 11:40:00 (89 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Whatever, what kind of response is that? It's OK if you are in agreement with someone's decision as in whatever you like, but to use that word as an expression of indifference should be unacceptable. If people can't communicate intelligently why try to converse at all? Does anyone know what has happened to people, that a response of "whatever" is acceptable? It's not uncommon to hear it used by any age group of any section of humanity. The subject matter doesn't have to be of a particular area, or even be a subject. The conversation often gets to the point where one party is refusing to continue and ends it with the response as only a flippant remark. The other person then accepts it as a reply that their view was understood and accepted and considers the matter finished. This type of communication is seldom constructive and is usually resurrected at a later time.

We as a society have become so accustomed to the indifference of others that it has become commonplace. It has often been stated that "service is dead" and this is visible in all arenas of business. You must search for someone to answer a question in a retail establishment, beg a waiter or waitress for assistance at a restaurant, and often you must hire a "friend" to help you. Everyone has a priority that doesn't include the customer who pays their wages and keeps the doors open. Everyone wants treated with respect but no one wants to earn it by giving it. It is sad to see how far backwards we have come, that common courtesy needs to be taught when training others.

Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Self help subliminal audio is a hot topic at the minutethe debate can even get a little heated sometimes. Visit a few different websites and you will be able to read a range of different opinions, rumors, and myths about how it can be used, but here are our seven simple truths about subliminal messages some of which some websites might not want you to know:
* Subliminals have been used by some celebs (no not just Anthony Robbins), such as Tiger Woods and even Stephen Speilberg - both of them claiming that subliminal messaging helped them to stay focused , and become succcessful

* Reading some websites you might be led to believe it is illegal. This is innaccurate, it is not illegal, the only instance it is banned within is for use within advertising as here the intention would be to manipulate. It is completely legal to use for personal reasons - such as learning or improving confidence for example.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Did You Know You Can Kill Your Anxiety by Accepting It?
on 2010/7/7 7:00:00 (96 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- As we all go through our days, our minds are constantly thinking about different things, Our thoughts are made up of the stimuli around us, as we walk, drive, and interact with people, as well as our thoughts about situations and issues in our lives. It would be impossible to not think, and on a daily basis, thousands and thousands of thoughts pass through our minds. For the most part, these thoughts will be general, and for want of a better description, neutral in terms of their affect on us, but there may be some thoughts that are about issues that are worrying us, or about scenarios that we escalate in our minds, typically to a point that may never happen. To illustrate this point, I will use an example relating to me with a problem I had.

I had been worried about a number of bills that needed paying, as I had received quite a few in one go, and I had to work on the best way to meet the payments on time. Now, as it turns out, I was going about my daily business, and during the day, the thought of the bills popped up. For many people, suffering from anxiety, this may traditionally swirl around in their head, and they may then start to imagine the 'what ifs' scenarios. This may include a thought like "what if I can't pay this on time?". Whilst this is a logical thought process, it is not one that will reduce your anxiety. In many cases, where people have problems is that they latch on to these thoughts that cause distress and create more and more, as they imagine more and more worst case outcomes. It's like a dangerously out of control slippery slide. Having explained one possible situation that many other people may also face, let's look at the best ways to handle it.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : 4 Crucial Tips For Lucid Dreaming
on 2010/7/3 9:40:00 (128 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Lucid dreaming is one of the few true blessings we can find in our own minds. Becoming conscious in your own dreamworld is like finding a new universe, full of secrets and wonders. It's a realm that will give you a lot of fun, because you can control it, and wisdom, because you can connect with your subconsciousness. I'll give you 4 basic and very important tips that every lucid dreamer should know.
1. Create a dream journal and write a description of every dream that you can remember. This will greatly increase your dream recall. It's best to have a physical object as your journal, a notebook for example. That way you can carry it with you at all times and write everything that you may recall during the day. It's all right to keep a journal in an electronic form (that's what I do actually, it still works well). The first option is still better.

2. Perform reality checks when you see something that's just a bit unusual. Simple, but very powerful. If you forget to do them, set an alarm to go off every hour (that's just an example) and do them whenever it rings. The most important part is that you have to truly believe that you are in a dream.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : How to Prevent Burnout
on 2010/7/1 19:00:00 (122 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- You used to be enthusiastic. Your job seems to be so fun. Then you just can't do it anymore. Or your mood is always a mess. You snarl at everyone on your home. Your kids are thinking, what happened to their once jolly parent? Then you have to juggle your family stress and your job stress. You can't say no. You're working yourself out until you can't remember what was the last food you popped inside your mouth and you still say its just the stress but you can't keep up anymore. These are constant stresses that obstruct you to be productive, rendering you with a feeling of helplessness, worn out and at times disillusioned. This is what burn out can do to you.

You might ask what is the difference between stress and burn out? Stress is more on losing your energy caused by over engagement but you are still positive enough to think that everything will be all right once you get everything in control. Burn out on the other hand may be the result of constant stress but it is more on losing your motivation, ideals, and hope. You don't see any positive change in your situation like when you are stress. How would one know that they are leading to burn out and not stress?

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Goal Setting Gone Wrong
on 2010/7/1 13:20:00 (88 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- What makes Goal Setting Sausage Rolls go wrong? How does a solid list of goals fall to pieces in just six weeks? The problem may be within YOU - the person trying to complete the goals or it may be the goal list itself. Here is the recipe for completely ruining your sausage rolls (goals). Ingredients:
Two cups of a Vagueness
A clove of Someone Else's Vision
1 bunch of Too Much Publicity
800g of Too Hard/Too Easy
A dash of Past Objects
Three pieces of Comparing Yourself to Others
Serves: Smart Goal Setters
Directions

1. Your goal is too vague A goal that is vague has no power - like a chili sauce without the kick. Goals should always be clear and specific. This will allow you to tick off carefully planned milestones along the way. It may help to ask the question, "How will I know when I've achieved this goal?" If you are not sure, then your goal is probably too vague.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Be More Productive by Having 4 Things to Do Each Day
on 2010/6/29 9:40:00 (108 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Start each day by getting very clear on the 4 things that you absolutely must do that will move your business forward and block time out to do those things. This idea will not only help you be more productive and get back some wasted time but it will also help you stay focused on what the most important tasks are that will move your business forward. First thing you'll want to do is decide what the most important tasks are. Most people know what those are but have just never made them a priority. Others really have no idea. If you need help getting clear on what those things are then look around at what others who are productive in your business or market place are doing. Also, you can certainly allow for a trial and error phase as you get more clear.

You will use this idea to organize your day so that you can do the most important business building activities first and get them out of the way. As small business owners it is very easy to get swept away in a sea of busyness and tasks that make you feel like you are working really hard, but in fact you are running in circles and not getting very much accomplished.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Happiness Gets Limited When You Look For Something
on 2010/6/28 11:20:00 (100 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- You limit your happiness when you look for certain things as opposed to leaving yourself open to experience whatever comes to you or comes to you for your fun and learning. And you also limit others, specifically who they can be for you, when you put people in boxes expecting only their past behaviors to always be their only behaviors. Don't worry though. They do the same to you. (Touch of sarcasm there.) When I was a substitute teacher I did not see the kids the way their regular classroom teacher did. The teacher usually left a list of the behavioral problem kids.

What a nasty habit - leading the substitute teacher to experience the child as a problem without even knowing the child in a neutral light. What do you think the average substitute teacher would see in the behaviors of the names on such a list? No wonder kids lived up to those labels of being a problem kid! When I saw those list the first thing I did was indirectly choose those kids to be my helpers for the day. I asked them to hand out papers, erase the blackboard (yes, we had those back then.)

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Having Performance Anxiety Today
on 2010/6/25 15:40:00 (98 reads)
Self-Improvement & Psychology

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Beverly had suffered from anxiety most of her life. As a child, she slept poorly and often had nightmares. She bit her nails and would chew on the skin around her nails until they were raw and bleeding. Beverly had tried many forms of therapy, meditation and medication before consulting with me. She had a strong belief in God and prayed daily. Yet she was still anxious and could not understand the source of her anxiety. Beverly grew up in a "normal" household with two parents who seemingly loved her. Yet as we explored her childhood, it became apparent that, while there was no overt abuse, the covert emotional abuse was constant. Her parents were highly critical of her and would get angry and withdraw when she didn't perform to their expectations. Her mother was not affectionate and her father's affection was tinged with sexual energy that frightened her.

Beverly felt tense much of the time in her home. Her parents fought a lot and her mother would often end up crying hysterically while her father withdrew behind his newspaper. What she did not see in her household was any role-modeling for taking personal responsibility for her own feelings. Her mother would blame her and her father whenever she was unhappy, while her father would blame her and her mother for his upsets. Beverly always tried to be a good girl and be there for her parents, but no one was ever there for her. It's easy to see why Beverly was so anxious as a child. But what was causing her anxiety as an adult?
