Sports : Mayweather vs Mosley live Stream Free-Watch Mayweather vs Mosley Live Stream Here
|
| on 2010/5/2 6:40:00 (218 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- It's Mayweather vs. Mosley time. The Mayweather vs. Mosley start time on Saturday is 6:00 p.m. PST (9:00 p.m. EST), and it could shape up to be a great fight.
Mayweather vs. Mosley will take place on HBO as well as pay-per-view, and will be fought in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. comes in to this fight as the favorite, as he is still undefeated in his run through the boxing ranks. Don't count out Shane Mosley though, because he is determined to prove that he belongs in the same conversation as Mayweather on Saturday night.
Expect the Mayweather vs. Mosley fight to be extremely competitive, with both fighters coming in right around the same weight (Mosley-147 lbs, Mayweather-146 lbs), and this should also turn into a smash event for HBO and pay-per-view. Early projections have this being the most successful pay-per-view event of the year, but with orders still coming in, we won't know the real answer to that until the fight has taken place.

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Breaking Into a Conversation Gracefully
|
| on 2010/5/2 6:20:00 (130 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- Last week, I wrote a post about exiting a conversation gracefully that generated some buzz. Beyond commenting on the strategies and tips to help you get out of those awkward moments, many of you rightfully pointed out that breaking into conversations was just as perplexing, especially at networking events, conferences, and other forced-conversation forums.
There are two strategies that I recommend to ease in and out of group conversations effortlessly. Both begin with a polite interruption followed by a quick retreat. The first one takes some chutzpah, aiming itself at the whole group, while the second strategy targets a single person first before gaining an entrée into the larger group soon thereafter. Both can give you the opening you need to break the barrier of closed-circle groups and save you from a night of eating alone at the bar during a conference or event.
Let's take a closer look: The Group Tackle The group tackle involves a brief introduction followed by an immediate retreat — an emphatic statement that the group continue the conversation without further ado.

Banking, Money and Finance : Debt Relief Programs - What Is an Unsecured Debt Relief Program and How Does It Work
|
| on 2010/5/2 0:00:00 (27 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- That represents Step 1 in solving your most pressing dilemma: how to get demanding creditors off your back. Step 2 is reading this and learning the answers to those all-important questions.
“…Dividing the Question into 2 Parts: Unsecured Debt and Debt Relief Many of us are burdened with unsecured debts. An unsecured debt is any debt that isn't supported by collateral or any pledge of assets. Car and home loans are examples of secured debts; the car or home can easily be repossessed by the creditor if the debtor fails to pay on time or violates any part of their agreement. Credit card bills, emergency medical expenses, school loans, and utility bills are examples of unsecured debts. When you swipe your card to buy a dress, you don’t sign anything that says the dress can be confiscated if you fail to pay on time, do you? That’s why it’s unsecured..”
Debt relief on the other hand is the answer to your problems. When you have difficulties paying for unsecured debts, a debt relief company or program will assist in helping you pay for your debts for lower amounts of principal, better interest rates, and more flexible payment options.

Education, Career, College & Alumni : Where the Boomers Will Find Jobs
|
| on 2010/5/1 22:20:00 (158 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- If you're an older manager who's been laid off (or is under threat), the future probably looks pretty bleak. Do you take a job at Walmart or work part time? You might lie awake at night and stare at the ceiling, asking yourself: What will happen to my family? My savings? My way of life?
You may also recall — with a bit of bitterness — all the rosy projections of think tanks and experts who predicted that there would be plenty of work for people in the baby boom generation going forward. For example, in 2004, HBR authors Ken Dychtwald, Tamara Erickson and Bob Morison wrote a seminal article called "It's Time to Retire Retirement" in which they argued that, given the imminent retirement of millions of boomers, "we've recently passed what will prove to be a historic low in the concentration of older workers. Just when we've gotten accustomed to having relatively few mature workers around, we have to start learning how to attract and retain far more of them."
Sigh. These projections were made before the Great Recession dried up millions of jobs and, simultaneously, retirement funds for people who once looked forward to their sunset years. Enter Barry Bluestone, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University, with heartening news. Bluestone, who has a serious track record in labor market analysis (and who carries a Medicare card himself), reiterates the findings of demographers like Dychtwald. According to a paper released by the MetLife Foundation and Civic Ventures, a think tank focusing on boomers, work and social purpose, Bluestone predicts that there will be at least 5 million potential job vacancies in the United States by 2018. (Bluestone's research is one of four papers written by independent experts, all of which can be found at www.encore.org/research).

Self-Improvement & Psychology : Today's Biggest Talent-Management Challenges
|
| on 2010/5/1 21:40:00 (154 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- Do you have the right talent in your organization? The blunt answer for many of America's largest enterprises is: "Not yet" — and the reasons are striking. At a talent-management meeting on March 17-18 in Coronado, Calif., experts from companies such as Cisco, Gap, Toyota, Wal-Mart and Oracle gathered to share perspectives. During formal remarks at the Conference Board event, most speakers did their best to stay upbeat. But a different story emerged in the hallway chatter between sessions.
Over coffee and muffins, attendees swapped wry stories of what it's like — even in a recession — to be battling a "talent problem." Hospital executives fretted about internal talent pipelines that keep producing the wrong kinds of leaders. Retailers fumed about promotion paths clogged with lackluster managers who can't be moved. And all sorts of attendees owned up to jitters about how well their companies' leaders can truly gauge a rising star's promise.
As one defense contractor put it, too many bosses' idea of talent assessment amounts to nothing more than "a lick-and-sniff dog test. It's all about whether they like someone." How bad is it? Talent-management consultant Marc Effron hardly raised eyebrows at the conference when he unveiled a fresh survey with the following sober statistics:

Business & Finance : IDEO's Tim Brown on Using Design to Change Behavior
|
| on 2010/5/1 21:00:00 (131 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- Many large-scale phenomena are the sum of individual actions — sometimes millions or even billions of them. Apple's recent celebration of 10 billion songs downloaded represents 10 billion choices made by consumers to download a song rather than buy it in other formats. In the healthcare space, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported a 50 percent drop in respiratory infections in children, a drop attributable (in part) to the group's campaign to educate millions of children to change their behavior: To wash their hands.
But what does it take to bring about such mass behavior shifts? Are there approaches that businesses could use, too, to influence behaviors on a micro level, and gain benefits on a macro one?
Tim Brown, CEO of design firm IDEO, tells me there are. He points to an emerging field, design for behavior change, as a source of methods and tools for doing so, whether in the service of organizational change management or shifting purchasing behavior, or even broader social initiatives pursued by companies for the common good.

Business & Finance : The World Needs More Social Entrepreneurs
|
| on 2010/5/1 20:20:00 (141 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- Given all the problems our world faces — in teaching, technology, health care, or finance — we need many more social entrepreneurs and change makers. Progress against these problems will be intolerably slow if only 3% to 5% of world's population thinks they can solve them.
We need to teach our youth that they can help people; that they can lead; that they can make lasting and important change in their communities and across the globe. Society, employers, educators, and parents need to recognize that our kids' successful personal and social development must start with a mastery of several complex skills — empathy, teamwork, leadership, and change making.
Any city or country that doesn't help its youth master these basic skills is finished, its companies and institutions disadvantaged. Education can no longer be solely about information transfer. The three R's are useful, but they're not the foundation for success in this new world, where change is accelerating exponentially.

Politics & World Affairs : Could Your Organization Be Bipartisan?
|
| on 2010/5/1 19:40:00 (95 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- The term "bipartisan" seems to be having a renaissance these days, particularly in Washington. Unfortunately while everyone agrees that bipartisanship is a good thing, nobody seems to know how to do it. So despite all of the dialogue, forums, campaign promises, speeches, and political theater, most issues (like health care reform, jobs creation, and climate management) are either stalemated by fundamental disagreements or pushed forward by the power of majority votes.
As we watch our political leaders struggle with the reality of bipartisan agreement, however, it might be worth thinking about the bipartisan dynamics in your own firm. In truth, every organization has factions (we don't call them "parties") that disagree about what to do or how to do it. Sometimes these factions are based on deeply held beliefs and philosophies. At other times the factions are based on personal loyalty to one senior leader vs. another; or to one "power center" vs. another (such as country vs. headquarters or function vs. field); or to one group vs. another (e.g. old-timers vs. newcomers or heritage company vs. acquired company).
No matter what the factions in your organization, one of the toughest managerial jobs — at any level — is to bring people together in a bipartisan or multi-partisan way to get things done. If bridging the gap between different factions is part of your job, here are some simple rules of thumb to keep in mind:

Banking, Money and Finance : Charlotte Bankruptcy lawyer, MiddleBrook Pharmaceuticals Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection
|
| on 2010/5/1 19:20:00 (171 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- WESTLAKE, Texas, Apr 30, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- MiddleBrook Pharmaceuticals, Inc. /quotes/comstock/15*!mbrk/quotes/nls/mbrk (MBRK 0.30, +0.00, +0.30%) ("MiddleBrook" or the "Company") has filed a voluntary petition (the "Petition") for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware (the "Bankruptcy Court"). MiddleBrook will continue to manage and operate its business and assets during the pendency of the bankruptcy case, subject to the supervision and orders of the Bankruptcy Court and in accordance with applicable provisions of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
In conjunction with the filing, MiddleBrook is seeking customary authority from the Bankruptcy Court that will enable it to continue operations and deliver products to customers in the ordinary course of business and without interruption. "During this process, we remain committed to continuing to promote MOXATAG through our third party partner's electronic promotion program and maintaining product availability to our trade customers," said David Becker, MiddleBrook Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Acting President and Chief Executive Officer.
The filing of the Petition places an automatic stay that restrains most actions a creditor could commence or continue against MiddleBrook and its assets, under applicable bankruptcy law, without the permission of the Bankruptcy Court. Stockholders of a company in Chapter 11 generally receive value only if all claims of the company's secured and unsecured creditors are fully satisfied. MiddleBrook is unsure if there will be value available for distribution to the common stockholders in the bankruptcy process, and therefore makes no guarantees that such claims will be satisfied.

Advertising, Marketing & Merchandising : How One Company's Turnaround Came From the Heart
|
| on 2010/5/1 19:00:00 (109 reads) |
(Prudent Press Agency)--- In his inspiring and instructive book Rules of Thumb, my friend and Fast Company co-founder Alan Webber identifies two questions that demand the attention of leaders. The first is familiar: What keeps you up at night? What are the worries that nag at you? The second is less familiar, but perhaps more important: What gets you up in the morning? What keeps you more committed than ever, more engaged than ever, more excited than ever, as the environment around you gets tougher and more demanding than ever?
That's a question organizations need to take seriously if they hope to prosper during this period of crisis and (slow) recovery. Even the most hard-charging leaders recognize that success today is not just about thinking differently from other companies. It is also, and perhaps more importantly, about caring more than other companies — about customers, about colleagues, about how the organization conducts itself in a world with endless temptations to cut corners and compromise on values.
One of the companies I've studied for my next book, Practically Radical, is called DaVita. Talk about a tough business — it provides about one-third of all of the kidney-dialysis treatments in the United States. Back in 1999, when CEO Kent Thiry took charge, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. It had revenues of $1.4 billion, losses of $56 million, and a share price of about $2. Less than ten years later, it had revenues of $5.7 billion, net income of $374 million, and a share price approaching $60. It is one of the great business turnarounds I've seen in a long time — from a market capitalization of $200 million in 1999 to more than $6 billion today.
