The 40 individuals were divided into 20 members each. One group would be the supplement group and the other one a placebo.
Everyday the supplement group would take 1.05 grams of irvinga gabonensis three times a day for about 30 days. While this is being extracted, the conductors will measure the blood pressure, weight, size, glucose and cholesterol of the participants. The participants also had their own journals wherein they would write them daily food intake and the activities they have done for the day.
So what were the results? The study showed that the supplement group have reduced their weight by loosing 11.5 pounds over-all while the individuals in the placebo group only lost 3 pounds. In terms of the blood pressure of those under the supplement group theirs were lowered. Other things that lowered too were their over-all cholesterol including LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while their HDL increased.
However, the conductors are saying that they do not but the entire blame on the supplement for the losing of weight of these individuals. It may have been a product of not eating much together with irvinga gabonensis. There were also studies that combined the supplement with Cissus quadrangularis. Meaning, there were three groups, the placebo, Cissus quadrangularis and the irvinga gabonensis group.
Yet again, the gabonensis group showed that they still deemed better results than the placebo or the Cissus quadrangularis.
