Engineering, Science and Technology : Magnalight.com Adds High Pressure Sodium Light with Remote Ballast for Saltwater Applications

Engineering, Science and Technology

(Prudent Press Agency)--- Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com announced the addition of the MRL-1000HPS-EB saltwater use certified high pressure sodium light for boats, shipyards and other wet area, saltwater present applications. Measuring 26 inches tall, 22 inches wide and 11 inches deep, the MRL-1000HPS-EB produces 130,000 lumens and can be configured to operate on voltages ranging from 120 volts to 480 volts. UL 1598 certified for wet area use, the hard coated, copper free aluminum alloy housing is designed to be corrosion resistant for saltwater environments.

“With the remote ballast, this salt water use certified high pressure sodium light fixture is much lighter weight and with all the key components housed in a separate enclosure, installation and maintenance are much simpler,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics.

“Typically, as a large boat light and other marine environments, a large high pressure sodium fixture is useful, due to its low current usage, high light output and high pressure sodium’s unique ability to penetrate fog and moist air.”

However, mounting a large, heavy fixture high in the air comes with its own challenges and eventually, maintaining the fixture can be onerous as well. By removing all the heavy electrical components from the light housing and putting them in a separate enclosure that is accessible and secure at ground level, you simply have a housing, reflector and bulb in the air. This translates into easier mounting, maintenance and overall longevity for the light fixture.

Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com offers a wide variety of non-corrosive, high powered lighting for marine applications. Ranging from low voltage, high powered LED lights to high voltage metal halide, high pressure sodium and halogen quartz lights, magnalight.com offers an extensive array of boat, vehicle and equipment lighting.
